No, the water in Ganga Talao isn’t physically connected to the Ganges River in India, but it’s considered just as sacred. There’s a belief that it has an underground link to the Ganges, though that’s more spiritual than scientific. Long ago, water from the Ganges was poured into the lake to bless it, and since then, it’s been a major Hindu pilgrimage site in Mauritius, especially during Maha Shivaratri. It’s a peaceful place with temples and a giant Lord Shiva statue, definitely worth a visit!
