During my visit to Mauritius, I found that English is widely spoken, especially in tourist areas, hotels, and by those working in the service industry. Most people involved in tourism can communicate effectively in English. However, I also noticed that French and Mauritian Creole are commonly used in everyday conversations among locals. While English will generally be sufficient, knowing a few basic phrases in French or Creole can be helpful and appreciated.
